The European Training Foundation (ETF) has conducted two case studies on the learning and training approaches developed by DVV International Middle East, namely “Tafakur” in Jordan and “Mujawarat” in Palestine. The ETF studied the learning practice within the framework of its partnership for innovation in adult learning and education initiative (PIALE) and developed the case studies to support peer learning.
The results show that, through its dialogue-based method and focus on the needs of the participants, the approaches lead to a better awareness of the learners and the reality they are living in, to increased motivation to learn and to improved employability. The strong support to learners as well as the networking of DVV International partner organisations in their communities was also mentioned as important aspects for the transition to different forms of employment as well as to community development.
Overall, the study concludes that adult education, and the developed approaches in particular, plays an important preparatory role in the context of vocational training and employment and contributes to local development.
