Workshop on Adult Learning Marks the Start of Strategic Partnership between DVV International and the German Jordanian University

From 31st of August to 3rd of September 2026 the specialized workshop "Tafakur Approach to Daily Urgent Needs-Education" (DUNE) took place at Dead Sea. The workshop was organized by DVV International with the participation of selected students and staff members from the Consultation and Training Center of the German Jordanian University (GJU) as well as members of the "Community of Practice" of DVV International.

Over three days, the workshop featured interactive sessions covering a wide array of topics in adult education and community development, most notably: an introduction to lifelong learning, models of popular education, dialogue as a learning process, the pillars of communication in dialogue, facilitation skills for dialogical sessions, as well as foundational concepts such as andragogy, the culture of silence, group work methodologies, and a review of practical case studies.

The workshop is part of preparations towards a strategic partnership between DVV International and the German Jordanian University starting from 2027, as part of DVV International's strategy to support non-formal education and adult learning structures in Jordan. The partnership aims at establishing a certified adult facilitation course at the University and introduce adult learning and education in the academic sphere in Jordan.

The activities concluded with a closing session that included a review of the skills and knowledge acquired by participants and an assessment of the workshop's outcomes.
