The Arab House for Adult Education and Development (AHAED) held successfully its Arab Academy 2021 untitled “Citizenship… Adult Learning/Education”

The sixth Arab Academy for Adult Learning and Development was held successfully in Broumana, Lebanon, from the 29th of November to the 4th of December, 2021, with the participation of 36 persons from Eight Arab countries (Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Algeria, Sudan and Morocco).

The sixth Arab Academy for Adult Learning and Development was held successfully in Broumana, Lebanon, from the 29th of November to the 4th of December, 2021, with the participation of 36 persons from Eight Arab countries (Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, Algeria, Sudan and Morocco).

The Academy held by the Arab House for Adult Education & Development, is part of the continuum analysis and reflection initiated by the four Arab networks engaged in Literacy and Adult Education, namely the Arab Campaign for Education for All; The Arab Network for Literacy and Adult Education; The Arab Network for Popular Education: and the Arab Network for Civic Education, with the partnership of DVV International.

And for this Academy, the organizers have chosen the title “Citizenship… Adult Learning/Education”, through which they aspire to produce a unified text, that includes a presentation of the Academy’s results in addition to new questions that resulted from.

The main themes discussed are: Citizenship and adult learning modern challenges; What is Global Citizenship: presentation and criticism; Western multiple pressures for Citizenship Education: what is it for?; The principle of Citizenship Education; Discoveries on the path to Citizenship (after the Arab Revolutions); The capacity of civil society in confronting educational policies; Learning Education: from Citizenship buds to Citizenship; Towards innovative experiences in adult learning.

Yet, many workshops took place in order to concepts’ renewal, in which the participants split up to five working groups and they built and drafted the final text on “Citizenship… Adult Learning/Education”.

Further, the Academy included a cultural evening, morning meditations, an exposure trip, and an ALE Campaign that englobes a celebration of the centenary of the educator and philosopher Paulo Freire. After the ceremonial, certificates were distributed to the participants of the Arab Academy 2021.
