The Seminar
The seminar, hosted by four major Arab Networks “4As” in the field of Adult Education and DVV International in cooperation with the International Council of Adult Education ICAE, is an opportunity to reflect on the failures of adult education in the current world, and more specifically, in the Arab World. It is an invitation to read the reality of adult education and its consequences on developmental processes; culturally, educationally, and economically. Our world today lacks an effective Arab reference in adult education and literacy, especially with the increasing violence and unrest and its pedagogical consequences. Today, more than two-thirds of illiterates are women, and the conjunction between human rights, civic education, and the current education system is minimal.
The 4As is an Arab Network of four active networks in the field of literacy and adult education along with the DVV International. The four networks are the Arab Network for Literacy and Adult Education (ANLAE), Egypt; the Arab Network for Popular Education (ANPE), Lebanon; the Arab Campaign for Education for All (ACEA); and the Arab Network for Civic Education (ANHRE), Jordan.
